Did you ever have to write sentences in school when you got in trouble? Maybe you figured out a shortcut when you wrote the sentences to make it easier. If so, there wasn’t any wisdom gained from the correction. Rather the wisdom was in getting around the instruction.

That’s often how our hearts work. But God’s instruction isn’t busy work. His commands don’t get in the way of our best life. His correction isn’t about shame. Rather, it’s all about the deep desires He has for us and our intimacy with Him.
